Fonua Family
Aloha Family I guess I'm the last one. This one is dedicated for Grandma May who started this wonderful tradition. The Fonuas are healthy and happy and right now we are in the middle of the state tournament for Kiana's basketball team. They are in the semi-finals tomorrow and if they win they will play for the state championship on Saturday. Kiana said to wait and write this so that she could say they are state champions, but I'm afraid if I wait the computer will blow again. While its working I'm going to get this done. Here we go.....
Kavehi is in second grade. Kavehi is my sweetheart and my loving snugly bug kid. Everyone always tells us that he is the nicest boy. Kavehi is doing great in school now I have three that can read only one to go! Kavehi's greatest event this year was he got baptized! The whole family came, we missed you Jason and Carol, Andi and Wilson too, but it was great to have everyone else there. Kavehi also played sports this year baseball, soccer, football, and is now playing basketball. His only win in the season for football, his family was there, the day he was baptized. He told me maybe I should get baptized every Saturday! Ha! Kavehi's biggest problem is he is not very coach able. He thinks he knows it all and won't listen to Dean or I. Hey uncle Keegan can you come down and coach he listened to you? Kavehi is a very special boy, he tells his mom every night I love you and is always giving me hugs and kisses. He also tells me I'm Beautiful all the time! He still sings himself to sleep all the time with nonsense songs he makes up about his day! The family has listened to him and recorded him some nights we all laugh until Kavehi catches us! We love you Kavehi!
Kealani is in pre-school and loves it. Her teachers name is Mrs. Vicki and she loves that her teacher has the same name as her Grandma Kane. Kealani is a ball of energy, talks a mile a minute, and if you sit down with her for a few she will talk your ear off. She is always on the going doing things, dancing, singing, playing, fighting with her brother. Wow how the pecking order goes. Kiana teases Kavika, he takes it out on Kavehi and Kavehi gets Kealani. Funny how that works? Kealani is a very smart girl and has a lot of little sayings we love. For example: She calls Gatorade's-alligators, she always says I can't how - which means I don't know how!!! She is always cracking us up all the time! Thank heaven she is out of the naughty stage, but she is spoiled rotten and we know it! She loves staying at Mikki and Pauls house. Mikki has a rule however, no crying at our house! I wish that worked at our house. Kealani is tall and we think she might get as tall as her Aunt Andi or Mikki. She loves princesses and will probably be a 5'11 cheerleader???? Whatever she does we love her and were thankful she is in our family.
Dean and I are doing good. This year I got put in as Young Women's President and that has been great for Kiana and I. But its crazy because they left Dean in Young Mens too. I turned the big 40 and that means we are all getting old! Keegan your next and Mikki/Paul not too far behind. Dean is doing great at work and loves it. Kavika and I still want to move back but Dean loves it here! It's been great seeing Mikki and Paul and their family more, but we miss seeing Keegan and Matt's families. We also miss seeing Grandma everyday, especially Kealani her and grandma still share a special bond. We also want to thank Grandma and Grandpa for coming down and watching the kids play in their sports, that means a lot to us and the kids. Most Important, Grandma May we will miss you but we know your in a better place loving being with Grandpa and that you are watching over us everyday until we can be together again. We love you all and may the lord bless you in all that you do! Ohana!

Matt Kane family
Hello to all my family, it has been so long since I have talked to everyone. This year has been awesome as always! Well I guess I will start with myself.....Work has been SLOW so i have had tons of time off to practice my call of duty skills and I am good! Last week Kai and I entered our first competition Call of Duty (search and Destroy) we came in fourth it was the bomb (BOOM)!No really it has been slow but things are picking up on our off time Keegan and I did a little remodeling job on the Big Kahuna's(dad) bathroom. It is now the focal point of the house, so all family meetings, and dinners will be held in it. Well enough about me, how boring lets learn what has happened in the last year for the rest of my family.
Well its been a rough year for hallie, she lost her license so Kai has been giving her a ride to and from work on his new bike. We do save a lot of money now that we don't have to pay for her gas, thats good right? Hallie like usual has been our go to girl, she does everything for everyone. Picks kids up, drops kids off, when we all forget somthing she will bring it to us, yep I said us because even I forget to take things to work I need. Hallie is definately the glue the holds this family together. Hallie still working at the Vogue and does mom's hair once a week and dad's every other week. She likes to make fun of me for playing video games, but you should see her on farmville and tiki farm. I think theres three of them and she is always on the computer messing with those farms. Planting things, building corrals and stealing stuff off other peaples farms every chance she gets.
On to our firstborn, oldest male grandson our little Kai. I guess not so little now almost as tall as me, of course I'm not that tall in this family of Yeti's and Amazon women so maybe he is still little, no your just all a bunch of freaks. Kai had another successful season in football playing both sides of the ball. Football is definately his favorite sport, but he is going to take on track this year. He is looking forward to it and has been running on the tread mill to get ready for it. Kai also had his first job this summer working at Five Guy's burger joint. It only lasted a few weeks because he got the job late in the summer and football started. Kai has also started piano lessons and is loving every minute of it. He would rather be playing all the new popular songs, but is just a beginner, therefore beginners play Big Chief Indian. He does have a good ear for it and is having lots of fun with it. School is school and that is that, oh he does enjoy his cooking class's and thinks he might want to go to a culinary school.

Li, Jen, and introducing... Carter Likeke Kane!!!
First of all before I go and sum up the year I would like to say that we are proud to introduce our baby boy, yes, we have a son. Baby Li has a baby. It has been more than amazing; it's just too bad you guys aren't around to see him grow. I can't wait for the reunion. Anyway Carter Likeke Kane was born June 19th 2009, 9lbs 2oz 8:28am. He has been a perfect addition to our little family. He likes veggies, he has a adorable straight smile(according to Jen), and he loves to pull himself up to stand. Every time he succeeds he hoots and hollers like a crazy baby "I'm on top of the world!!" We like him.
So last newsletter I reported that I walked for my graduation but had not graduated. So in April I officially graduated with my Bachelors in Psychology. It was a fun last semester in Hawaii.
We did have some misfortune. While I was contesting a shot in the air just outside the key, I came down on someone else's foot and twisted my own. I thought I just sprained it but after allowing Student Dr. Kane to look it over via video chat I was recommended seeing a local doctor. Student Dr. Kane was correct when I finally got an x-ray that confirmed I had an avulsion fracture. But all healed 100% after 7 weeks.
Unfortunately some good things must come to a close and we had to bid Aloha to our home of Hawaii. Hard to believe that we actually lived in Hawaii, we recommend everyone try it.
With every sunset there is a sunrise, unfortunately ours was in Hurricane Utah. J/k, Hurricane is great which is why Jen and I agree that everyone should move their way down here.
When we arrived in April, Jen was ready to pop, seriously, look at her. Anyway since then Carter was born. I has been fun to watch him grow. We are now the Webelos Leaders which has been interesting but we've graduated 5 boys to Boy Scouts all of whom have achieved their Arrow of Light. Which, by the way, is the only badge from Webelos that can be worn on the Boy Scout Uniform, its a big deal.
Carter had his first Halloween, Christmas and tooth(bottom row). Turns out Carter loves to wear masks and he also loves wrapping paper. Currently we are trying to save a little money. Yeah we are still down in the in-law's basement.
We love you guys, ALOHA!!!!
